Overcoming Your Oily Skin #GOLDENUDE

Nice to see you back here Goldenbelles. If you’re reading this right now, you might be tired of your face shining and glistening under a spotlight. Well if that’s what you here for, then you’re in luck. Today we’ll provide you with several tips on how to overcome pesky oily skin.

It’s a common misconception that oil is bad for your skin – in fact it has an important role to play. But too much of a good thing can cause you to glisten and cause pimples and acne. Here’s what we think:

1.       Clean, Exfoliate, and Tone

Going to sleep with makeup on is a big no-no! Bring the habit of washing your face gently with a mild cleanser, since strong soaps might instead increase oil production. Avoid scrubbing too hard, you do not want to cause an irritation.

If you are seeking for oil-combating products, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide are your friends. Beta-hydroxy acids or glycolic acids may also work if things are getting out of hand. But note that some ingredients may not suite your skin; sample small first to avoid irritation.

Exfoliating your skin every other day with a gentle and good quality exfoliator may improve oil conditions as they lift up layers of dead skin cells and make your face look and feel brighter.
Toning isn’t a must for your routine, but good, alcohol-free toner can remove excess grime and oil traces. But still be wary since it may also cause more oil production and dries out your skin. Stop using the product if this happens.

2.       Moisturize and Shield from The Sun

You might think that oily skins don’t need moisturizer, yet this is simply not true. A light moisturizer will provide a barrier from the harsh environment, smooths, and also hydrates by locking in moisture needed by the skin. Yet over-moisturizing may create clogged pores – blackheads and pimples. A pea-size amount of moisturizer every morning and evening is recommended.

All skin types, including oily skin, need protection from the sun. Incorporate a light and oil free day cream or sunscreen, preferably SPF 30+, to avoid damaging your skin from the sun’s rays. A wise choice would be products that are noncomedogenic or nonacnegenic to avoid clogging your pores. Sunscreen is important!

3.       Use Makeup to Your Advantage

Makeup is a versatile part of your beauty arsenal, because with the right tricks and method, use it to your advantage.

Apply an oil-free, anti-shine primer under a matte foundation to ensure your make-up sticks. Then experiment with medicated oil-control pads and blotting paper to keep the shine under control throughout the day.

Lastly, the classic-make up trick of powdering your nose and the T-zone, whenever necessary. But again, don’t overdo it, as too much powdering can eventually clog your pores. When all is done, top it off with Goldenude’s iconic blush without brush for a flush and glow finish.

With the above tips and tricks, you’ll be showing a matte and oil-free look throughout the day. Give it a try and let us know down in the comments.
