Skin v. City! #GOLDENUDE

4:00 PM

City lights, buzzing vibes, glamorous life...

Ah, such is the promise of a bustling city that never sleeps. It may seem super glamorous and enticing to be an urban dweller, however when you move to a city, there are naturally some sacrifices to be made. Not to complain about it or anything—the thrill of adventure takes us to brighter, louder, more expensive places—but it's important to go into city-living with your eyes open. You’ll most likely live in a tiny apartment, spend a fresh ton of money, and expose yourself to lots of stress that could have been avoided if you had stayed the suburbs (unless of course, if you’re a Kardashian).

Urban dwellers are exposed to heavier concentrations of pollutants. Because beyond having to navigate a two-story penthouse when all you need is toothpaste, really, there are also different skincare concerns for city folk. Things like protection against free radicals, ozone, and floating debris (!). If the air around us isn't conspiring to kill us, at the very least, it could be leading to your acne and pre-mature aging. But before you do, it would be wise to know what you're defending against…

Free radicals are reactive molecules created as byproducts of other processes, like photodamage and cigarette smoke. As a result, our skin cells become less happy, and prone to age us and dry us out quicker. And because UV rays are a big trigger for cell mutation, it is imperative to protect our skin with SPF.  Besides the all-important sunscreen, ingredients like vitamin C, vitamin E, argan oil, green tea, etc can also act as excellent anti-oxidants for your skin. The idea is protect the rest of your cells from free radical damage, while also preventing the formation of new free radicals.

Few things substitute a killer eye cream like regular sleep and exercise, especially if you find yourself in a high-intensity city, but if you can afford a country house, maybe do that, too J

Attaining Kissable Lips! #GOLDENUDE

10:15 PM

Oh, the joys of a plumped, pretty pucker! Just like with your complexion, did you know that our lips need to go through a thorough prep prior to applying makeup? This is to slough away dead skin, treat dry, cracked lips, and nourish with a sheen balm for us to achieve that all natural, kissable lips.
You want a smooth canvas so that your lipstick applies effortlessly and actually accentuates your lips, instead of hindering them. But with so many amazing lip prep products now available, how do we use them… and what do they actually do?
Fret not beauties, because in this post, we’ve put together a short (and totally achievable) list of tips to help you prep your lips! Use nourishing oils
Your lips are very soft and sensitive, so that makes olive oil the ideal product to use on dry chapped lips. Olive oil will help soften your lips, it will be absorbed quickly and it won’t irritate the skin at all. You can also use other nourishing oils to hydrate your lips, for example, sweet almond oil, avocado oil, rosehip oil, linen seed oil, grape seed oil, coconut oil, rice bran oil, and shea butter. Use lip balm
Your lips can easily dry out in the wind, so use lip balm on them regularly to keep them hydrated. Carry lip balm with you all the time and top up the moisture, whenever you feel you need to. Exfoliate weekly
Another tip on how to take care of your lips is to exfoliate weekly. Exfoliating your lips will remove the dead skin cells and expose the soft and kissable skin underneath. Sprinkle some sugar on a piece of fruit, such as banana, mango, strawberry, or any other fruit you like, and then rub your lips gently with it. This is the best and tastiest way there is to exfoliate your lips. Invest in a trusty vitamin E lipstick
Because your lips are so sensitive, it is best not to use the cheapest lipstick that you can find or it will dry out your lips. Look for lip products that contain Vitamin E, so that way, your lips will look great and you’ll be helping keep them soft and kissable, all at the same time. Massage your lips
Next beauty tip on how to take care of your lips is to give your lips a daily massage and that will help keep them in good health too. Rub your fingertips, in a circular motion, over your lips and it will help increase the blood supply to your mouth.
These are just some off the bat beauty tips for prepping and priming your lips. Do share with us in the comment section down below on how you take care of your lips, Golden Belles!
Until then, flush and shine

Keeping Hydrated 35,000 Feet in the Air! #GOLDENUDE

3:40 AM

Whether you're traveling home for the holidays, or going to a tropical location to escape from the hustle and bustle of your everyday life, if you plan on flying, keeping yourself hydrated is a must. If you've flown before, you're probably familiar with that awful, dry, recycled cabin-air. To those who are no stranger to long flights — often times we become so swept up in the excitement of traveling that we forget to prepare an in-flight system for our skin. And the result is definitely not cute :(

So one of the best things you can do for your skin and body during a flight is to drink a lot of water (and try to skip the booze and coffee). While it's best to also bring a treatment specifically for your skin even on a shorter flight, longer flight-times can require something a little more intensive to stay properly hydrated. Spoiler alert, your skin will be glowing right after you hop down your flight. Pstt, here’s the secret!
Hydrating sprays are the perfect first ingredient for a skincare prep-me-up. Try to bring on board a facial oil that minimizes pores while still offering hydration. And don't worry if your bottle is too big to get through security — just transfer your desired amount into a little travel spray-bottle and you’re good to go!
Numero dos, we can’t stress how it’s so important to take care of the delicate skin around the eyes. Our under-eyes can become kind of puffy when we travel, and that is why eye creams can help tackle both the swollen and dehydrated nature of our eyes in one shot. To really lock in the benefits of everything, make sure to apply a thick moisturizer to set. Our favourite moisturizers are often charged with oxygen and Vitamin E, hence making them the best agent in delivering moisture.

Lastly, take it from us – a dash of lip balm or lip gloss will change your life.

So there you have it, jetsetters! Whether you're braving the cold or stepping off a plane, the right combination of moisturizers (and perhaps Goldenude blushers, *hint hint) will ensure that you're not too dry or oily, but glowing inside and out.

Get Gorgeous, Fast! #GOLDENUDE

9:39 AM

Who has 30 minutes to perfect their makeup in the morning? We don’t! Here you'll find four high-impact steps that get you pretty in a jiffy.
Step 1. Hide dark circles
Applying concealer under your eyes and in the inner corners next to your nose automatically brightens your face. (To fully cover very dark circles, dot on a peachy or pinkish corrector first.) Use a small, flat brush and pat with your finger to blend.
Tip: Weather, stress, sleep, and hormonal changes can affect your skin color, so it's worth it to have a "wardrobe" of three or four concealer colors—it'll do more for you than an extra lipstick.
Step 2. Perk up your complexion
Blush is the fastest way to look radiant. Choose the formula—powder, cream, or gel—you find easiest to wield, and apply it on the apple of your cheek, sweeping up into the hairline. Lightly blend color vertically with a brush or sponge. By the way, we’ve got you covered with Goldenude paper blush! Easy peasy and fast
Step 3. Define your eyes

Black mascara looks great on everyone and makes enough impact that you can skip other eye makeup. Work from the base of lashes to the tip, remembering to roll the brush—it's the easiest way to separate lashes and avoid clumps.
Step 4. Finish with a soft gloss
Gloss is very flattering as you get older—it draws light to the face and makes your lips look fuller. Opt for one with a subtle shine in a shade or two darker than your natural lip color—going too dark has a minimizing effect.
But you know what? every woman is beautiful on their own and there is no need to use makeup if you don't feeling it.

have a great week goldenuders and goldenbelles, stay gorgeous! :)

11:26 AM

The sun's rays make us feel good, and in the short term, make us look good. But our love affair isn't a two-way street. Exposure to sun causes most of the wrinkles and age spots on our faces. Consider this: One woman at age 40 who has protected her skin from the sun actually has the skin of a 30-year-old!

We often associate a glowing complexion with good health, but skin color obtained from being in the sun – or in a tanning booth – actually accelerates the effects of aging and increases your risk for developing skin cancer.
Sun exposure causes most of the skin changes that we think of as a normal part of aging. Over time, the sun's ultraviolet (UV) light damages the fibers in the skin called elastin. When these fibers break down, the skin begins to sag, stretch, and lose its ability to go back into place after stretching. The skin also bruises and tears more easily -- taking longer to heal. So while sun damage to the skin may not be apparent when you're young, it will definitely show later in life.

How Does the Sun Change My Skin?

Exposure to the sun causes:
  • Pre-cancerous (actinic keratosis) and cancerous (basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma) skin lesions - due to decreases in the skin's immune function
  • Benign tumors
  • Fine and coarse wrinkles
  • Freckles
  • Discolored areas of the skin, called mottled pigmentation
  • Sallowness -- a yellow discoloration of the skin
  • Telangiectasias -- the dilation of small blood vessels under the skin
  • Elastosis -- the destruction of the elastic and collagen tissue (causing lines, wrinkles and sagging skin)

So submerge your skin in SPF and wave them cancer a goodbye before they even had a chance to come!

5 Foods To Eat For Better Skin #GOLDENUDE

9:30 AM

We often hear the phrase ‘You are what you eat’.  Nutrition is important factor for your health - An unhealthy diet can not only damage your metabolism and cause weight gain, but also affect organs such as your heart, liver, and surely, your skin. Certain foods have ‘magical’ ingredients that will help keep your skin feel supple-smooth, help fight age-related damage, and glow. Wondering what to feed your skin? Here are five superfoods you need to try:

  1. Dark Chocolate
As if you needed one more reason to eat chocolate, now you have it. Dark chocolate contains high concentrations of antioxidants. Studies have shown that cocoa keeps the skin thicker and more hydrated, less rough, less sensitive to sunburn, and better blood flow to bring more nutrients to the skin. All just by eating 20 grams of 70% dark chocolate per day.

  1. Green Tea

Sipping a cup of warm green tea does a whole lot more than relax you. Green tea is filled with anti-inflammatory antioxidants called catechins. Similar to dark chocolate, regularly consuming green tea can help protect your skin against sun damage, reduce redness from sun exposure, and improve skin elasticity.

  1. Oatmeal
Oatmeal provides you with a nutrient-dense diet that will brighten up your skin. It will help feed your inflammation-reducing bacterias, minimize spikes in blood sugar that can contribute to skin problems, and strengthen your skin, because of oats' high source of silicon, a mineral that also helps the skin retain elasticity, slowing wrinkles and other signs of aging.

  1. Soy
Soy contains isoflavones that can maintain estrogen levels in the body, which can improve fine wrinkles and skin elasticity. In postmenopausal women, soy may also help improve skin dryness and increase collagen production, keeping your skin smooth and strong. Not only that, soy also protect your skin from damage from harmful UV rays, helping prevent skin cancer.

  1. Sunflower Seeds
In general, nuts and seeds are good sources of nutrients that are important for healthy skin. Sunflower seeds is a good example. They are an excellent source of nutrients, including vitamin E, which is an important antioxidant for the skin. They also contain linoleic acid, a type of fat that may prevent dry and thin skin.

Above are just some examples of foods you can incorporate in your diet. Any food high in nutrients, antioxidants, and vitamins are always good for your skin. Have a balanced meal, drink plenty of water, cut down unhealthy fats and sugar, and you’ll be on your way to a more radiant skin in a couple of months!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Cleansing foams are what evolved from the usual soaps that our ancestors have widely used in the olden days.  The chemical structures of soaps that include glycerine, fatty acids, and fats, were made clear sometime in the 1800’s and this paved the way for the facial cleansers we commonly refer to today.
It was Dove who originally introduced facials creams and promoted the concept of the beauty bar.  Today, lots of beauty industries took it to the next level with cleansing foams packed with a whole lot of nutritious ingredients for the skin.

Cleansing foams are very important in our everyday beauty regimen.  It is almost what you can consider the foundation of your beauty regimen.  You cannot expect the other products to work great if you have impurities and dirt sitting in your skin.  Cleansing foams are known to have maximum benefits if the skin if used in conjunction with sheet mask.

You should wash your face twice a day. You may be diligent about washing your face before you hit the hay, but what about in the a.m.? Even if your skin doesn’t feel dirty, don’t forgo a morning stop at the sink. “You’re getting rid of the natural oils that have built-up overnight, as well as any residue from products you applied before bed,” says Rouleau. This gives you a clean palate so that whatever you use in the morning−most importantly, sunscreen−can penetrate and work effectively, she adds.

Another monday, another charm to show!

Undertone Breakdown: Warm or Cool #GOLDENUDE

12:53 AM

Choosing the best foundation match, hair dye, or even lipstick color can be really confusing. Not only do makeup cost quite pricey, beauty brands are offering more and more color options for us. But for that exact reason, with all these new choices available for us, it's so much easier to get it wrong.

However, do not worry as in this blogpost, we will learn how to get colors matched perfectly with our undertones. There are three main classifications for undertones: warm, cool, and neutral. If you have warm undertones, your skin will lean towards peachy, yellow, or golden. If you have cool undertones, your skin will lean pink, red, or blue. And if you have neutral undertones, your skin will be a mixture of these colors.
Of course, since these are undertones, they will be  much harder to detect than the general color of your skin. You (usually) can't simply look at yourself and just know that you have fair skin tone with red undertones or a deep skin tone with yellow undertones. So to help you figure out your undertones, here are some sneaky clues hidden on your body we have put together...

1. Vein Colors
Check out the inside of your wrists. Do your veins appear blue or green? If they look blue/purple, you're cool-toned. If green, you're warm-toned. If you have trouble telling, you probably lean neutral

2. Sun: Burn or Tan?
As a general rule of thumb, if you burn easily or turn pink, you're cool-toned. If you tan, you're warm-toned. (Remember to always wear your sunscreen, people!)

3. Clothing Color
Are there certain colors you find you look better in? If you look best rocking tones such as blues, purples, and emerald-greens, you're cool-toned. If you favor earth-tones such as reds, oranges, yellows, and olive-greens, you're warm toned. And for you lucky gals who can get away with all the colors, you have neutral undertones.

10:28 PM

It’s no real surprise that when it comes to talking beauty, the conversation almost always lands on some exotic, nay, crazy concoction that has made it’s way from the East. You know those snail infused sleep masks you’re obsessed with? Or that oil cleanser you use every AM and PM? Or the brightening serum responsible for your glow? All Asian imports. You gotta admit, when it comes to skincare, they’re onto something.
If you haven’t gleaned over countless multi-step K-beauty articles by now (we’re going to ignore the fact that you’ve been living under a rock), here’s the gist of it all: getting porcelain-like skin is all about cleansing (twice to be thorough), hyper-targeting skin issues (that’s where most of the steps lie), and protection (SPF. Duh). We might be simplifying a bit, but we’re trying to ease you into it, okay?
Here we go!
1.MAKEUP REMOVER & OIL CLEANSER
2.WATER-BASED CLEANSER
3.EXFOLIATION
4.TONERS (AKA “SKIN,” “SOFTENER” OR “REFRESHER”)
5.ESSENCE
6.SERUMS, BOOSTERS & AMPOULES
7.SHEET MASKS
8.EYE CREAM
9.MOISTURIZER
10.SUN PROTECTION
Here on our blogpost, we will explain to you what and how those products could affect your skin and why that 10 steps is actually worth your time.

Why Blush Without Brush #GOLDENUDE

7:15 PM

Happy Friday, gorgeous! Today, we have some food for thought:

They say beauty is more trouble than it's worth, so the Goldenude team have decided to test that theory out.

It’s most definitely an added chore for us draw on fleek makeup every morning, but we can’t deny it’s definitely worth the hassle. After all, a fabulous self grants you an added boost of confidence for you to slay all day ;)
However, we’d also stand to agree that too many of our pet peeves are makeup related. It is personally very annoying for us to finally save up and purchase that super glowy highlighter when we accidentally break it when squeezing it in our bag. Or how about a friend of ours unabashedly grabs our favorite lippie to try on their lips when you shudder even thinking about the germs?! Alas, what we end up doing is usually giving stuffing that broken, dirty, or used product deep in our makeup pouch and never using it ever again...

...which is why Goldenude is the perfect solution for all you makeup enthusiasts out there who value a longer lasting and more efficient product! Introducing Goldenude; the first paper based blusher in Indonesia that brings you efficiency, hygiene, and ease of use to a whole new level. So even for the micro and nano sized bags you may be bringing out to town, you can still look as flushed and glowy as ever! Besides being priced competitively, Goldenude’s blushers also come in a variety of colors, so you most definitely need not worry about picking the wrong shade.

Why Blush? #GOLDENUDE

2:13 AM

We’ve all said something stupid or regretful before, so we know how much worse it is when you feel that sudden heat in your face and realize your cheeks are visibly burning red. Blushing is something we fear so much that once we know that we’re doing it, there’s a vicious circle. We feel even more embarrassed, and the blushing gets worse. Researchers have found that simply being told that you’re blushing when you’re not really is enough to make you blush even more.

Well.. is blushing normal? How do our body works exactly? When you're embarrassed, your body releases adrenaline. This hormone acts as a natural stimulant and has an array of effects on your body that are all part of the fight-or-flight response. Adrenaline speeds up your breathing and heart rate to prepare you to run from danger. Then your blood circulation goes faster because it needs a good amount of oxygen. The veins in your face respond to a signal from the chemical transmitter which tells the veins to allow the adrenaline to do its magic. As a result, the veins in your face dilate, allowing more blood to flow through them than usual, creating the reddened appearance that tells others you're embarrassed. Tl;dr adrenaline causes more local blood flow in your cheeks.
But then, is blushing good for us? Because i can absolutely relate the feeling of near death situation when I am in the middle of embarrassment. Fear no more because it has been scientifically proven that people who are physically fit have more of these blood vessels and flush easier than people who are unhealthy, unfit, elderly or smokers. So if someone point out that you are blushing  it is a good reminder that you are fairly healthy and glowing from the inside.
For the rest of us, blushing is simply unpleasant. So perhaps we should start thinking of it as a social asset. The next time you say something stupid and feel the blood rushing to your face, remember that you’re just showing your friends that you understand your mistake, and that you adhere to the social values of your group. They’ll probably like you all the more for it.

Have a great Monday girls! Flush and shine!
